Who doesn’t like custard? What an easy way to do some much-needed landscaping inside our digestive garden.
The thing about healing the gut is that it isn’t a one stop shop. In the world we live in, our gut bugs are constantly under attack by our lifestyle. Stress, polluted air, poor quality food and chemical-laden water all contribute to leaky gut.
The mission becomes ongoing and is more about having something gut-friendly each and every day, than following a strict gut healing protocol for a month.
This custard can easily become a nighttime treat for the whole family and will be moving the lawn and rebuilding the broken rock wall of your garden as you sleep.
Ingredients
-
2 tablespoons of grass-fed gelatin powder
-
4 tablespoons hot water (not boiling)
-
500ml of organic non-dairy milk (coconut, rice, cashew, or almond ~ avoid soy)
-
1 scraped fresh vanilla bean
-
2 tablespoons maple syrup
Method
Place the gelatin in a mixing bowl with a spout. Add the hot water and stir until the gelatin has dissolved. Add the remaining ingredients and combine well.
Pour some of the liquid into each of your cups. Use pretty glasses, tea cups or cute ramekins to give them a fancy vibe.
Pop them in the fridge and let them set for 4–6 hours depending on the size (the larger the volume, the longer they will need).
If you want to mix things up a bit, swap the vanilla bean seeds for 2 tablespoons of cacao to make a chocolate custard, or add some smashed strawberries for a strawberry custard.
